THE SECRET’S OUT—HOUSTON DISCOVERS GLENBROOK VALLEY
Glenbrook Valley was ready for its close-up(s) in the 1954 and 1956 Parade of Homes tour, which sent Houstonians flocking to the city’s hippest neighborhood. Among its gems—and coincidentally, a historic landmark as per the Houston Chronicle—is the 1956-built Salvatore and Lily Ann Muscanere House.
A GROWING COMMUNITY WITH CHARM AND STYLE
New residents continued to land in Glenbrook Valley as fast as the planes were hitting the runway at nearby Hobby Airport in the 1960s. Ever the trendsetter, Glenbrook Valley was one of the original Houston neighborhoods to host some groovy Christmas light displays, which were still novel at the time.
NEIGHBORHOOD REVIVAL BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO OLDER HOMES
With the economic downturn of the 80s came yet another phase in the history of Glenbrook Valley. Some longtime residents moved away, and parts of the neighborhood had seen better days. But with a little elbow grease and a lot of Mid-Century lovin’ from passionate residents, the community started to bounce back.

MID-CENTURY MODERN STYLE, TIMELESS APPEAL
The entirety of Glenbrook Valley is designated as a Historic District, which aids in the neighborhood’s preservation and upkeep. Formerly crowned “Houston Neighborhood of the Year,” the Glenbrook Valley community added a little oomph via Mid-Century Modern-inspired address signs and entry markers in 2015. The neighborhood remains a Houston icon, rich in history and ripe for continued growth.
